Farmer’s market every Tuesdays and Fridays at Helvetiaplatz (close by to the apartments). Traditional fresh food market where there are probably more nationalities represented than at any other market in Zurich. A colorful mixture of home-grown and exotic products awaits visitors.

The Kanzlei flea market is not just Zürich’s most famous, but also most notorious flea market. Frequently word gets about that one or the other market trader has camped out overnight in order to secure the best pitch when the square opens early in the morning for people to set up their stalls. At this flea market, the local inhabitants are not just able to buy treasures, but also sell them again. Here you can find everything under the sun – from fur coats to kitchen utensils, and from electronic equipment to leather bags and jewelry. Saturdays 7.20am – 4.00pm.

Amazing public observatory in the heart of the city centre! They have a lot of public tours, and if the weather cooperates, you can even observe through the gigantic telescope yourself! They also have a small cafe and an observation deck for the magnificent city view by night.

This cute little speciality coffee café is the work of long time friends Shem Leupin and Thomas Leuenberger. One an ex-Swiss Barista Champion and now head roaster and the other a chef and master of fine foods. Whether you’re into espresso, cappuccino or filter coffee, you won’t be disappointed. This remains one of my local favourites. The Saturday morning brunch is also a big hit so get in early!

In former times, weapons and ammunition were stored and repaired at the Zeughaus (which means “arsenal storehouse” in German). Today, the weapons on the wall are purely for decoration. Here, visitors from all over the world come together with locals and sit at long tables with a refreshing glass of beer and a wide selection of different types of sausages. You will find typical Swiss food such as sausage & cheese salad, Wiener schnitzel, cordon bleu, and Zürcher Geschnetzeltes to name a few.
